Pivoting Professional Development

At the start of 2020, NAIFA-Texas was looking forward to a calendar of regional events and live meetings all around our state. But then, we all know what happened: Priorities and lives were directly impacted by COVID-19.

The NAIFA-Texas Professional Development Committee immediately began meeting monthly to see how we could and should react with quality programs that would reach our members across the state in the most impactful way. Between April and July, NAIFA-Texas has offered over 20 virtual events that have attracted over 400 registrants. With topics including Virtual Networking, Reverse Mortgages, and Zoom 101, NAIFA-Texas has offered a variety of topics to keep our membership engaged with each other and with the association.

Committee Chair, Jacqui Lugar (San Antonio Chapter), worked with a team--Aaron Cappilla (Amarillo Affiliate), Hollie Gandy (Amarillo Affiliate), Mark Jones (Houston Chapter), Joe Neal Kerr (Austin Affiliate), David Russell (Fort Worth Chapter), Jason Talley (San Antonio Chapter), and Brett Weisenburn (Pineywoods of East Texas Chapter)--to make this happen.

In addition to all dynamic programs, the Professional Development Committee reviews special programs and member benefits, making recommendations to the Board of Directors.

The Professional Development Committee has much more planned for the remainder of 2020! Keep your eye on the NAIFA-Texas Calendar of Events. While none of us could have predicted what 2020 had in store for us, the Professional Development Committee has steered NAIFA-Texas into the “Next Normal.”
