Annuity CE Update!

By NAIFA-Texas on 9/30/21 8:00 AM

If you are an agent selling annuities, then this blog post is for you... and your CE credits!

Effective September 1, 2021, HB 1777 passed by the Texas Legislature this past legislative session went into affect. This bill implements a "Best Interest" standard for annuity sales. The Texas Department of Insurance has updated it's criteria for CE requirements relating to annuities. There will be a new four-hour annuity certification course that will be required for all agents who have not taken an annuity course before January 1, 2022. If an agent has taken such a course, he or she will only be required to take an additional one-hour course.

Please note annuity CE requirements have not changed. Agents are required to complete eight hours of annuity-specific CE each term after certification. Visit the Sircon website to check your transcript and view available courses.
