NAIFA is proud to recognize Joseph Orr of NAIFA-Texas as the Q1 recipient of the Hard Hat Award in the PAC category - an honor reserved for outstanding champions of political advocacy. Known for his magnetic leadership and heartfelt commitment to NAIFA’s mission, Joseph was instrumental in the success of the NAIFA-Texas Centennial State Conference and Celebration, helping drive over $12,000 in PAC contributions.

“It’s not about me,” Joseph said in a recent interview. “I’m receiving this award for NAIFA-Texas and IFAPAC. I’m just doing my small part to make a difference.”

That humble perspective is a hallmark of Joseph’s approach. A past president of NAIFA-Texas and the organization’s first Hispanic state president, Joseph is deeply committed to leaving the industry better than he found it. “I love NAIFA. I love NAIFA-Texas. All I’m here to do is pay it forward and lead by example,” he said.

At the NAIFA-Texas 100th State Conference and anniversary celebration, Joseph did exactly that. His presence was not just visible - it was impactful. His passion inspired first-time contributors and motivated long-time supporters to deepen their investment in NAIFA’s advocacy mission.

What made the centennial event such a fundraising success? According to Joseph, it’s all about culture. “We have a family culture at NAIFA-Texas. It’s built on constant communication, mutual support, and a shared commitment to our cause.” Coordinating efforts across a vast state like Texas—connecting members from El Paso to Houston—is no small task, but Joseph emphasizes that strategic coordination and consistent communication are key.

“Our leadership team leads by example,” he added, referencing the contributions he and current NAIFA-Texas President Rick Demko made during the event. “We don’t just talk the talk—we walk the walk.”

Joseph credits his inspiration to national leaders John Wheeler, Jr. and NAIFA Past National President John Ruckel, both of whom have made a lasting impact on NAIFA’s advocacy efforts. Wheeler introduced him to the concept of the “1%”—a call for leaders to lead by example through meaningful PAC contributions. “I never imagined I’d give at the level I do now, but when you believe in the cause, you find a way,” Joseph said. Ruckel’s steadfast commitment continues to serve as a guiding light, thanks to his lifetime contributions to IFAPAC. Both are revered as icons within the NAIFA-Texas family, and their legacy of leadership and advocacy has inspired generations of members to follow in their footsteps.

As NAIFA continues its advocacy mission, Joseph underscores the importance of storytelling and engagement. “Tell your story. Talk about how NAIFA has made a difference in your life. That’s how you connect with others—especially first-time donors.”

He speaks from experience. Joseph was joined by 100 first-time attendees to this year’s Congressional Conference, including his wife, who joined him in Washington, D.C., for her first-ever visit to Capitol Hill. “Walking through those halls and knowing we’re part of something bigger—it’s powerful,” Joseph said. “It’s what being an American is all about.”

For Joseph Orr, advocacy isn’t a duty - it’s a calling. His leadership embodies the spirit of the Hard Hat Award: boots on the ground, eyes on the future, and heart fully invested in building a stronger, more secure future for NAIFA members and the clients they serve.

Thank you, Joseph, for your tireless commitment and for reminding us that every conversation, every connection, and every contribution builds momentum for generations to come!
