As of today, there at 18 days until the last day of the 87th legislative session here in Austin, TX-- or "Sine Die."

Tonight is the first big deadline for the Texas House of Representatives. Many legislators and lobbyists are scrambling to ensure bills make (or don't make) the cut off.  Fortunately for NAIFA-Texas, both of our priority bills this session are making the final stretch of their journeys through both chambers (Texas House and Texas Senate). HB 1777 (Best Interest Standard for Annuities) and SB 1063 (Personal Financial Literacy in Texas Public High Schools) have received strong support from stakeholders and our sister associations.

There has been some legislation that potentially threatened how our members service their clients, thus, setting dangerous precedents down the line for the industry. NAIFA-Texas was at the forefront of speaking with legislators about how these kinds of bills did not uphold the standard of service our members strive for every day.

Members, stay turned for a legislative wrap-up after Sine Die!
