March Member Spotlight: Kelli Simms

This month’s member spotlight is on Kelli Simms out of Dallas! She is currently serving on the NAIFA-Dallas Board of Directors as the Director of Government Relations. Kelli demonstrated a deep understanding of the importance of personal financial literacy and a passion for advocacy. She grew up in between New Orleans, LA and Dallas, TX and attended the University of New Orleans. She owns her own firm, InsureSolve, PLLC, a financial services advisory practice solving retirement and income planning issues. Her firm also offers education consulting services with in-house certified instructors teaching Financial Literacy coursework.

NAIFA Family Response Fund Expanded to Assist Winter Storm Victims in Texas

NAIFA has expanded access to the NAIFA Family Response Fund to benefit members of the association impacted by deadly winter storms in Texas. Officials in Texas and media reports indicate the extreme weather and associated utility outages have resulted in significant property losses and fatalities.

Best Interests for Annuity Consumers

Back in February, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) adopted amendments to the NAIC Suitability in Annuity Transactions Model Regulation. NAIFA National describes these amendments as consisting of, “enhanced consumer protections and other revisions, and the revised NAIC Model requires producers and insurers to act in the best interest of annuity purchasers and to not put their own financial interests ahead of the consumers’ interest.” This amended model affects financial professionals working with annuities.
