Elizabeth discussed NAIFA-TX's priority legislation from last session, the Best Interest annuity standard bill carried and passed by Rep. Oliverson, and the Financial Literacy bill carried and passed by Sen. Alvarado. It was great to hear about the successes of last session and the implementation of those bills. The members also discussed issues they plan to continue working on in the next session related to insurance and financial services. General topics such as the new make up of both chambers after elections, the state budget, and regulatory matters before TDI, were also discussed.
NAIFA-TX looks forward to continuing to work with these legislators and many others. Rep. Oliverson and Rep. Thompson, in particular, discussed how important it is for NAIFA-TX members to reach out and call on their legislators to explain what is important to them and this industry, in addition to our lobby support on the ground in the Capitol. Thus, it is important for NAIFA-TX and its members to develop and maintain relationships with elected officials who understand the priorities important to NAIFA-TX members.
